The Round Up - January 11th, 2012.

Stats Rundown

Last night at the Staples Center, Kevin Durant was determined to take another scoring champion trophy from Kobe Bryant. He maybe 2.5 points behind the Black Mamba's 30 a night but it is not too late to comeback from behind. He dropped a season high 42 points on 16 of 25 shooting, while grabbing 8 boards and dishing out 5 assists to show off his improved all around game.

Dishin': As his loyal partner in crime, Russell Westbrook had his share in the destruction of the Lakers. The spontaneous point guard finished with 27 points (10 of 21 shooting), 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 steals to give the once dominant LA team their first 6 game losing steak since 2007.

Enough: If a longtime dedicated Laker fan like Jack Nicholson, leaves a game early because he can't stay to watch his team get pulverized, the Lakers have lost all hope. Hey, at least Kobe passed Alex English for 8th on the all-time made field goals list.

Shout Out: To Luol Deng's 33 points (13 of 18), 5 rebounds and 4 assists to help keep the Bulls undefeated in Friday games (4-0).

To Devin Harris's near perfect shooting game, he had 24 point on 7 of 8 shooting (4 of 5 from the three), 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in the Atlanta Hawk victory over the Utah Jazz.

To Kyrie Irving for always keeping his Cavaliers in games. Despite Denver turning the ball over 22 times, the sophomore's 28 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals could not get the job done in Mile high City.

And to Tony Parker, who put up a valiant effort in the Spurs loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. He scored a game high 30 points (10 of 21), 3 of which were none more important then this shot that took his team into overtime.

However, his effort will prove to be no match for the Girt and Grind Grizzlies.

Rookie Watch: In Damian Lillard's homecoming to Oakland, he put on a quite a show for his family and friends. The surefire Rookie of the Year went for 37 points on 15 of 25 shooting and shot 7 of 12 from behind the arc. He also got 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and absolutely no help from his teammates, who shot a combined total 67 shots and only scored 60 points. On the other side, the victory for the Golden State Warriors matches their win total of 23 games from last season.

Time Machine User: Paul Pierce not only looks and plays like an old man, he is one, and a damn good one too. He had 23 points (8 of 14), 6 rebounds, and 3 assists to lead the Celtics to their 5 game winning streak. As a added bonus, he passed Dominique Wilkins for the 11th spot in the NBA all time scoring list.

Stay Toasty: When you are a man of Joey Crawford's age, keeping blood circulating through your body is a must. Kirk is mesmerized. (Via: @cjzero)
Highlights

Hook Up: The Bromance between Stephen Curry and David Lee transpires on court as well. They don't even have to look at each other to know where the ball is coming.

Fancy: Jamaal Tinsley is actually pulling off street ball moves at the age of 34.

Athletic Reptiles: Toronto might not a be one of the best teams, but they do always have a high flyer in their shooting guard position. Which is more than enough of a reason to watch their games. Please get Terrence Ross on the dunk contest and put the Raptors name in the public.

Innocent Bystander: Manu Ginobili is having one of those "I am too old for this shit" moments. Seriously, what were you thinking? Now Coach Pop has to sit for the next game and risk a fine.
